Founded and run by mother-and-daughter Gail and Lauren, the label operates from a serene Notting Hill studio steps from Portobello Road, where brides discover an exclusive selection of leading French fashion designers, each chosen for craft, personality and an ineffable je ne sais quoi. The Mews’ roster includes all of the stalwarts of French bridal: Laure de Sagazan’s heirloom silhouettes; Caroline Takvorian’s couture-inflected beading; Mademoiselle de Guise’s chic femininity; Lambert Creations’ timeless elegance; A La Robe’s refined minimalism; Victoire Vermeulen’s free-spirited designs; Donatelle Godart’s vintage romance; and Uni Paris’ avant-garde approach. Accessories are exclusively provided by bijoux brand Paviot Créateur, with veils and accessories on hand to complement key looks. Appointments are intimate and considered: arrive to bubbles and herb-infused water, spend an hour with a single one-to-one stylist and return for a follow-up fitting, all included in your booking. Once a year, designers travel to London for exclusive studio days – a rare chance to discuss bespoke options in person. I absolutely loved the experience of buying my wedding dress at The Mews! Beautiful selection of dresses. If you love the chic, ethereal beauty and flowy simplicity of French wedding dresses this is your place! The shop is beautiful (and smells gorgeously of Diptyque), and such a tranquil and serene environment. The staff are so warm and friendly, they looked after me so well (bubbles!) and really made me feel relaxed and comfortable – and never under any pressure at all. It wasn’t a process I was confident going into, and I didn’t expect it to be nearly as easy and enjoyable as it was! The stylists were fantastic – so supportive, and with her help I found my perfect dress very quickly.
