Le Château de Tresserve-Bonport is a picture-perfect Belle Époque castle perched on the freshwater blue of Lake Bourget, a masterclass in Alpine charm. Only recently reopened, the chateau has married the aristo-elegance of several centuries – pale stone symmetry, twin turrets, and expansive gardens à la française – with modern hospitality and serviced accommodation. Prospective couples can be assured the chateau boasts a book of tried and tested local partners (florists, videographers – you name it) to cut through the administrative wherewithal of a destination wedding. Accommodating up to 200, there are versatile reception spaces but our favourite is the Lake Room, a banqueting space with floor-to-ceiling windows, parquet floors and enviable views of Lake Bourget. Guests can sip cocktails on the sun-dappled lake-side patio, wander through a park of century-old trees, or toast under a glassed veranda and enjoy the flow of the evening, with dedicated after-party spaces on the lower levels (forty of your favourites can sleep over in lovely wood-beamed rooms). For you, the happy couple, there is a dedicated and spacious Honeymoon Suite, though we also note the split-level Suite Joseph Claret-Tournier in the chateau’s upper echelons, complete with a unique 360-view jacuzzi bath housed in one of the turrets.
