Cornwell Manor, a symmetrical Georgian jewel boasting a 2,000-acre private estate, is found at the most coveted corner of the Cotswolds (and certified Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty: AONB). Cornwell would provide an ample backdrop for a period piece; guests arrive to a setting so picturesque it scarcely needs a decorating budget: buttercup banksea roses climbing the Palladian façade, manicured Italianate topiary, Capability Brown vistas, families of swans and roe deer roaming around. Exclusively available for three-night weekend hire, Cornwell creates a true house party atmosphere with Champagne on the terrace and long Slim Aarons afternoons lolling by the (heated) pool and, crucially, sleepovers. Twelve distinctive bedrooms, designed in classic country house style, welcome 24 of your closest friends and family. Ceremonies can unfold in the honey-stoned Norman church, St Peter’s, in Cornwell’s genteel Ballroom with its graceful proportions and tapestries, or in the gardens: a yew-lined aisle, in the backdrop of terraced gardens, or in the Alice in Wonderland walled garden. Marquees transform the croquet lawn into a candlelit dining room and late-night dance floor (moving to the Ballroom after hours), while every corner – from the water garden to the sweeping parkland – sets the stage for elevated photography.
