About

The Feathered Nest is a modern British inn in Nether Westcote, high on the Oxfordshire edge of the Cotswolds. Built in mellow golden stone, it began life as a malt house and now sits on a hilltop looking out over the Evenlode Valley, deep in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Downstairs there’s a proper bar with open fires, flagstone floors and low beams, and The Nest Restaurant, which holds 3 AA Rosettes for a modern British menu built on local produce and herbs from the kitchen garden. For weddings, several spaces are licensed for civil ceremonies, from the Nest Restaurant and light-filled Garden Room, which open onto the landscaped gardens, to a new outdoor spot on the rear lawn. Here a long aisle runs from the pub out towards the valley, with far-reaching countryside views for up to 60 guests. Ceremonies can be held year-round, weather permitting, with the covered terrace offering a licensed backup for a drizzly day. Guests staying over have four recently refurbished rooms, plus the adjoining Cottage with an open fire and super-king bed, for a little more space and privacy. Each keeps the Cotswold character, with Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water all a short drive away

Why Our Editor’s Love

  • A standout hilltop setting above the Evenlode Valley, greenest from April to September.
  • An aisle that runs from the pub itself out across the rear lawn, countryside on either side, seating up to 60, with a covered licensed terrace on standby for English weather.
  • Serious food: 3 AA Rosettes and a kitchen garden on the plate.

Testimonials

We honestly could not have wished for a better venue for our wedding day. The setting is very special, in a small hamlet set high in the Cotswolds countryside, with stunning views. Our experience and anticipation of the day was made all the better by the expert support provided by their event planner, Natalie, who thought of everything, and brought to life exactly the day we wanted. We had the feasting menus which made for a really friendly atmosphere and the quality was outstanding – some guests remarked that it was the best food they had had out anywhere. To cater to such a standard, and at scale (70 guests) is really something. Having accommodation on site was a huge plus, we arrived the previous afternoon and felt like we were in a special pre-wedding world from the moment we arrived! The ceremony took place outside and being able to stay in the same place for this and the celebrations afterwards really helped everyone feel relaxed and totally ‘in the zone’. The team at the Feathered Nest were lovely and did so much to make our day feel so special. We really can’t recommend this place highly enough.

The Feathered Nest is a truly special place, and we had a magical wedding there. We wanted a relaxed, authentic day and the team was fully supportive of this from day one, working with us on every detail. Not to mention the food – honestly amazing, our friends haven’t stopped talking about it!
